A red snapper is simply a bloody Mary made with gin instead of vodka. It’s very unusual for us to have vodka in the house so this works out much better for me but there’s no reason why you couldn’t turn it into a smokey bloody Mary instead.
Obviously I’ve used chipotle paste in this, why wouldn’t I, you know I can’t help myself. I’ve also rimmed the glass with some Old Bay seasoning but that’s totally optional. The great thing about a red snapper or bloody Mary is that you can tailor it to suit your own palate, I personally prefer this to the normal smack-in-the-mouth spiciness of hot pepper sauces like Tabasco.
dash Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp chipotle paste
squeeze of lemon/lime juice
1 tsp horseradish
175ml tomato juice
olives and lemon/lime wedges to garnish
Mix together the first five ingredients in a tumbler. Add the ice and tomato juice and stir well. Garnish with olives and lemon/lime wedges.
